About Us

We’re in business to save our home planet

Both Patagonia Halifax & Patagonia Ottawa are independently owned and operated. These locations serve as the largest authorized Patagonia dealers on the eastern side of Canada.

Both locations carry a curated selection of Patagonia products alongside an array of other brands that share our values of quality, integrity, and environmental responsibility.

Both our Halifax & Ottawa stores are located in historic properties, in some of Canada's oldest public farmers markets.

We acknowledge that both stores are run and operated on the ancestral and unceded territories of the Mi'kmaq People (Kjipuktuk/Halifax) and the Anishinaabe Algonquin First Nation (Ottawa). We pay respect to their elders who have been stewards of these lands in both past and present.

Build the best product

Our criteria for the best product rests on function, repairability, and, foremost, durability. Among the most direct ways we can limit ecological impacts is with goods that last for generations or can be recycled so the materials in them remain in use. Making the best product matters for saving the planet.

Cause no unnecessary harm

We know that our business activity—from lighting stores to dyeing shirts—is part of the problem. We work steadily to change our business practices and share what we’ve learned. But we recognize that this is not enough. We seek not only to do less harm, but more good.

Use business to protect nature

The challenges we face as a society require leadership. Once we identify a problem, we act. We embrace risk and act to protect and restore the stability, integrity and beauty of the web of life.

Not bound by convention

Our success—and much of the fun—lies in developing new ways to do things

Patagonia grew out of a small company that made tools for climbers. Alpinism remains at the heart of a worldwide business that still makes clothes for climbing – as well as for skiing, snowboarding, surfing, fly fishing, paddling and trail running. These are all silent sports. None requires a motor; none delivers the cheers of a crowd. In each sport, reward comes in the form of hard-won grace and moments of connection between us and nature.

Our values reflect those of a business started by a band of climbers and surfers, and the minimalist style they promoted. The approach we take towards product design demonstrates a bias for simplicity and utility. For us at Patagonia, a love of wild and beautiful places demands participation in the fight to save them, and to help reverse the steep decline in the overall environmental health of our planet. We donate our time, services and at least 1% of our sales to hundreds of grassroots environmental groups all over the world who work to help reverse the tide.

We know that our business activity – from lighting stores to dyeing shirts – creates pollution as a by-product. So we work steadily to reduce those harms. We use recycled polyester in many of our clothes and only organic, rather than pesticide-intensive, cotton.

Staying true to our core values during thirty-plus years in business has helped us create a company we're proud to run and work for. And our focus on making the best products possible has brought us success in the marketplace.

Patagonia Ottawa is now open! Originally built in 1887 this building has been loved and used for many purposes before us. Using refurbished, reclaimed and recycled materials this building is now breathing new life while still fully capturing and honouring it's past history. In the heart of one of Canada's oldest and largest public markets we are excited to now welcome you into our new store in the ByWard Market.

At Patagonia Halifax we're proud to bring a full selection of Patagonia equipment to Eastern Canada. Experience our store in Halifax's Brewery Market

Patagonia Halifax is located in the Historic Keith’s Brewery on 1496 Lower Water Street in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The historic building was built in 1820 by Alexander Keith a brewmaster that moved to Halifax from Scotland and for 53 years dedicated his life to crafting beer. He was also voted Mayor of Halifax three times! The building today houses a pub, a brewery with tours, restaurants, shops and a yoga studio.
